Creation Development Trust is developing a Real Food Box Project in partnership with the Rural Development Plan for Bridgend. The idea behind the project is that the food boxes will provide residents within the Bridgend area access to locally produced foods. All boxes ordered within the Garw Valley, will be available to be delivered to the customer’s home or collected from local pick up points. Residents outside of the Garw Valley will be able to pick up their orders from designated pick up points.
The aim of the Real Food Box Project is to promote healthy eating, seasonal produce; reduce the amount of food miles and carbon emissions that amount through weekly food shopping trips. The project also aims to raise the profile of local producers within Bridgend and Wales. Products available in the boxes will be seasonal vegetables, meats, milk, breads and baked goods, store cupboard items such as chutneys, jams, rice, pasta, cereals, spices, herbs, eggs and ready meals.
The Real Food boxes will be available in the following sizes: mini, small, medium, and large. How the project will work is by placing your order for the appropriate size box, and then adding on any additional products that you may require for your weekly shop.
Food boxes will be available from Easter 2009, with the product range and website up and running shortly afterwards. Watch this space!
